The NW area of Cape Coral has always been an area where building has been very diversified. With a tremendous amount of vacant land available the NW sections will take decades to fully build out. Starting at Santa Barbara Blvd and moving west all the way to the North Spreader canal is an area more than 5 miles across and more than 6 miles north to south at its longest portion. On the western part of the NW Cape, once crossing west of Burnt Store Road, almost all of the lakes and canals are Gulf Access. Some of the areas to the north in this section could require an hour or more to meander down the North Spreader waterway to get out to open water in the Matlacha area. There are homes being constructed in the southern part that are short rides out - some being less than 10 or 15 minutes. The southern most part of this area will be going on central water & sewer sometime around 2016 to 2017 if plans move forward as expected.
